Poetry Manuscript Consulting Services

"Jennifer Jean took a pile of about 60 of my poems (many done in her workshop and published) and helped birth it into a gorgeous, cohesive manuscript. The poems illuminate one another; I’m ready to submit it!"

~Jennifer Martelli, author of The Queen of Queens

I have over a dozen years' experience teaching creative writing in higher education, in editing poetry for literary journals, and in editing book length manuscripts. I've published several collections of poetry, as well as individual poems and poetry book reviews in numerous literary journals.

Services & Rates:

- POEM PACKET (10 poems); includes line edits & publishing recommendations: $450 flat rate.

- CHAPBOOK MANUSCRIPT (20-32 pgs); includes notes on strengths/weaknesses, line edits, ordering & exclusions, titling, query & publishing recommendations, & a 60 minute phone (or in person) review: $25 per page.

-FULL-LENGTH BOOK MANUSCRIPT (48-60 pgs); includes notes on strengths/weaknesses, line edits, ordering & exclusions, titling, query & publishing recommendations, & a 60 minute phone (or in person) review: $22 per page.

How It Works:

You'll need to email a sample of 10 poems and a paragraph stating your manuscript goals and publishing history. Once we've connected, you need to decide whether you want handwritten notes or digital comments. For handwritten notes: you'll snail mail your ms. with appropriate return postage. For digital comments: you'll email a Word version copy of your ms.

Job completion time varies but will be agreed on before we begin. You must pay via PayPal before editing work can begin. No refunds, no exceptions.
